Just a few weeks ago avid stargazers were excited about the prospect of seeing Mars lighting up the nights sky, well now it seems all you amateur astronomers are in for another treat as the second biggest planet in our solar system is set to brighten up our skies this evening.

According to scientists the planet will align with the Earth and appear opposite the sun in the sky tonight. Experts also say the sixth planet from the sun will be closer than usual, and it will look brighter and will be visible all night.

The planet will even be bright enough to see without any specialised equipment. In fact, Saturn is actually the farthest planet from the sun that can be viewed with the unaided eye.

However if do happen to be in possession of a telescope or even a set a binoculars you may want to put them to use as experts say keen observers be able to discern Saturn’s famous icy rings.
