After a disastrous week for bin charges, the Taoiseach has finally confirmed in the Dail today that the immoral charges will be frozen and that people will have the option to pay-by-weight from January.
“The Minister has met with all the waste management companies, a freeze has been put in place for 12 months,” said Kenny.
“When the first of January comes and the dual billing process is sent out to the customers, they will be able to compare whether the current system or the pay-by-weight – depending what the put into the black bin – would result for them. They have the option then of transferring from one to the other.”
The charges have been met with steep opposition. It appears as though bin charges is quickly becoming the new Irish Water fiasco.
