The former US First Lady Barbara Bush has sadly died aged 92.
A statement released from the office of her husband, former President 93-yr-old George HW Bush, said she was a “relentless proponent of family literacy”.
Barbara Bush was the only woman to have seen her husband and son sworn in as US President.
She had been unwell for some time and had declined further medical treatment opting instead to spend her last days in “comfort care” with her family.
