It doesn’t get much more bizarre than that. To be fair, Taoiseach isn’t exactly the more phonetically friendly word in the world but one British journalist really took the biscuit with her pronunciation of it.
Journalist Emily Andrews was on TV show ‘Lorraine’ yesterday morning to tell British viewers about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s whistestop tour of the Emerald Isle.
However she didn’t exactly pronounce Taoiseach correctly, or Croke Park for that matter…
Eagle eyed Pamela Newman spotted the blunder immediately and took to Twitter in disbelief.
Pamela, originally from Drogheda, Co. Louth now living in Kent, UK with her family, told The Liberal that she couldn’t believe her ears and thought it was almost a joke at first but when no one laughed or corrected her, she knew that she really did hear “tea set” and “Crows Park” instead of Taoiseach and Croke Park.
Have a listen to Pamela’s recording of the show below:
So just for the record, the Irish PM pronunciation is tea-shock, (Taoiseach), and not teaset as said here and its Croke park not crowes park, then add insult to injury & say they will see some small sensitive stuff like Bloody Sunday wtf? @reallorraine @GMB pic.twitter.com/ad4Ir8KNEq
