Fair to the fairer sex? Oxford University sees women as lesser than men and is giving 15 minutes extra time for women in exams

There has been uproar this week after what is being described as a very controversial move by one of the most famous Universities in the world.

Oxford University will take new measures to improve women’s exam scores in maths and computer science after it was revealed that men taking the same subjects received first class degrees at twice the rate of female students.

Women taking exams in those subjects will receive an extra 15 minutes to complete their papers after Oxford Don’s determined that women are more adversely affected by the stresses of time constraints.

Some however, have claimed this measure smacks of sexism or as it has been termed the “soft bigotry of low expectations”. It has been suggested that Oxford is suggesting that simply being a woman puts one at an academic disadvantage.

This has also raised concerns surrounding possible loop holes for male students who can simply claim that they identify as women on the day of the exam which would mean they must be recognised as female as per new gender regulations.
