Hurrican Ophelia is currently racing on a northeastern course straight towards Ireland, where it’s expected to smash with storm force come Monday morning.
The national forecaster has warned that Ophelia’s arrival could be a ‘high-impact event’, with potentially damaging consequences.
The weather will remain unsettled ahead of the storm’s coming, with temperatures reaching 20C at times.
Met Eireann will monitor the storm’s course over the next 96 hours and issue weather warnings when and if warranted.
