Have you ever seen anything like it in Ireland before? Remember 1995’s sunny summer? Remember 1976? Well if you’re old enough to remember both of them, that’s about it – otherwise we’d have to go back around 80 years to match the summer of 2018 so far.
The current spell of hot weather continues unabated, prompting Met Eireann to issue a new weather warning for high temperatures.
The warning affects Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Galway, Leitrim, Roscommon, Clare, Limerick, and Tipperary.
Temperatures of 27-28C are expected today.
Current indications show that the heatwave is likely to continue into next week.
