Met Eireann has warned that stormy conditions with heavy showers are likely across many parts of the country today.
There will be brief spells of sunshine throughout the morning, with temperatures reaching 9-10C.
Widespread rain will blight coastal areas later on in the day, as nighttime temperatures fall to about 1 or 2C.
The forecast is for a cold but largely dry weekend.
