The August Bank Holiday came and went, bringing a lot of rain and wind all over the country. Localized flooding was reported in parts of Galway city, and though wet conditions persist, the weather is expected to become gradually calmer throughout the day.
There will be long spells of showery rain during the morning, but drier and brighter condtions will be predominant towards the afternoon. Winds will remain strong in coastal areas of the west, but will begin to ease as the day progresses.
