Motor Tax could be increased in Dublin as City Council propose a new levy to stop backlog

According to recent reports the cost of motor tax could increase for those currently living in Dublin as the city council are proposing the introduction of a levy for those who still pay at the motor tax office.

The move comes after the council recently issued a report that looked at a number of different ways of how to make the collection of tax payments more efficient.

The city council has believes such a levy should be introduced in order to encourage motorists to pay for their motor tax online which in turn would significantly reduce the backlog of renewals at the only available tax office in Smithfield.

The city council have also recommended that the quarterly payment along with cash payments at the office in Smithfield be abolished.
