Racing Scare: Promising young female jockey Ana O’Brien airlifted to hospital after suffering a horrific fall during the Killarney Races

A promising young female jockey is currently recovering in hospital this morning after she suffered a horror fall at the Killarney Races last night.

The jockey Ana O’Brien, daughter of trainer Aidan O’Brien, is understood to have suffered a broken arm and facial injuries after her mount slipped during The Celtic Steps The Show feature race on Tuesday evening.

Ms O’Brien who has been tipped to be a future star in the sport was immediately flown to Cork University Hospital after the incident which sadly seen the horse Druid’s Cross lose its life.

It is believed that both Ms O’Brien and the horse suffered a horrific fall within the first two furlongs of the flat race which got underway at 6.15pm.

Although Ms O’Brien did not suffer any serious injuries it is thought that she was kept overnight in hospital as a precautionary measure.
