Largest rainfall in two decades puts out many of the fires still raging in Australia

The largest rainfall in over two decades has put out many of the fires that were still burning across the New South Wales region in Australia.

There were no fewer than 60 active fires before the rain. That number has now been reduced to 42.

Firefighters fighting huge blazes for the last number of weeks have welcomed the relief, but have warned that there are many ‘uncontained’ fires still raging across the region.
