The Catholic Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin, Bishop Denis Nulty has accused An Post of printing mainly “secular” stamps to celebrate Christmas this year. In his social media tweet he said;
“As a stamp collector for years, I’m always intrigued by the design of Christmas stamps around the world, just look at what our neighbours up North and across the Irish Sea will be sending compared to what will be on our envelopes”.

We took a look and compared An Posts Christmas stamps to the UK’s Royal Mail stamps and we have to agree with the Bishop. An Post has definitely gone for an Xmas style secular Christmas when compared to the very definite Christian style of Christmas on the Royal Mail stamps.
As with any purchase you make, you decide where and when to spend your money. If you wish to give funds to An Post to promote their secular Christmas, that’s your personal decision.
You can decide yourselves here at An Post, and here at the Royal Mail.
