TDs prance around the Dáil on election day, and when the music stops, none of them want to be left without a comfy chair near the trough.
There will be high-profile casualties this time around though, victims of their self-made path to the political bleachers.
And Tanaiste Joan Burton is poised to draw the short stick on February 26, as the latest poll would suggest.
However, Ms. Burton has now risen and obliquely questioned the ‘accuracy’ of such poll announcing her political doomsday. While she does admit a ‘challenge’ to be re-elected, she tried to brush off the poll of judgement by saying “It is a smaller size sample [of people], therefore the margin of error is over 4%. Secondly, it indicates a very high number of undecided votes.”
Ms. Burton will likely fight it out with Ruth Coppinger for the last seat in the constituency.
