Search crews working tirelessly to find the missing crew of Coast Guard Rescue 116 have made a major breakthrough today by discovering what they believe to be the wreckage of the disastrous flight near the lighthouse in the bog area.
Mayo has seen literally thousands of people searching on foot, diving, flying and driving around the coast in an effort to find the missing men who are now missing some 9 days.
The pilot of the helicopter, Captain Dara Fitzpatrick was laid to rest in Dublin at the weekend.
Search teams say weather is hampering them getting to the wreckage but they believe they’ll get to it by Friday at the latest and are said to be hopeful all remaining crew are with it.
