A woman UK has been jailed for 16 months after she falsely accused a taxi driver of sexual assault.
Sophie Pointon (22), who was a student in Leeds studying criminology, accused the innocent driver of the sex attack after he refused to take a 10 pound note that was soaked in kebab sauce.
The woman not only phoned police to make the complaint but later signed a statement confirming an account of the assault, which never happened.
Pointon later tried to retract her statement when further questioning by police showed inconsistencies in her allegations.
It is hoped that this sentence will discourage false accusation of rape in the future.
