The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has officially begun his week long trip to the United States.
In the annual St Patrick’s Day tradition, Mr Varadkar wool engage with a number of political figures as he attempts to build on Irish/US relations.
Although the Taoiseach is not scheduled to meet President Trump until Thursday, it is understood Mr Varadkar will visit Oklahoma, Washington DC and New York City over the next seven days.
It is expected that Mr Varadkar will hold a number of key meetings with high ranking officials in order to boost trade the two countries, he will also meet a number of representatives of the American/Irish community during the course of his visit.
The occasion is part of a week long mission which will also see a number of other Government officials travel to countries such as China, Australia and Canada.
