The Irish Farmers Association have called on the Government to introduce a new scheme to help farmers during the current fodder shortage.
In a plea over the weekend, the association said farmers are facing a shortage of 10 million bales unless a importation scheme is introduced.
Although the association say the introduction of the scheme would not be an immediate solution to the problem, they have said it would go a long way to helping farmers across the country.
It is understood farmers nationwide will face a number of difficult months ahead given the recent drought conditions.
