Gardai have issued a warning to AIB customers over a smishing scam that asks people to hand over their bank card.
The warning comes after Gardai were alerted to the scam after a number of customers received text messages stating that their Bank card has been compromised.
It is understood that customers are being asked to click onto a fake website were they are asked to provide their PIN other personal details in order to receive their replacement card.
The fraudsters are then believed to ask customers to return their current card to an address which isn’t connected to AIB.
Gardai say they are advising the public to delete amy messages that they believe to be fraudulent and report the matter at their local Garda Station.
