Tipperary TD Alan Kelly has emerged victorious in the contest for the Labour Party leadership, defeating Dublin TD Aodhán Ó Ríordáin for the top job.
Mr. Kelly, once a staunch supporter of the now-infamous water charges, will have a tough time bringing the erstwhile significant Labour party back into some semblance of meaningful existence.
The party has steadily and very successfully been run into the ground by successive leaders, picking up just six seats in the last election.
