Almost 10,000 people left waiting for a hospital bed in June, worst figure since 2006

The latest figures show the true decrepitude and unfitness for purpose of the current Health Service Executive (HSE) service in Ireland.

According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO), a grand total of 9,961 patients languished on trolleys throughout June.

The worst offenders were University Hospital Limerick and Cork University Hospital.

Over the past 20 years or so, the health brief has been led by a motley menagerie of deeply incompetent civil servants, including Mary Harney, James Reilly, Simon Harris, and of course, lest we forget, Leo Varadkar. Every one of these individuals has achieved the almost admirable feat of leaving the health service in a worse state than when they took control of it. These individuals’ disastrous tenures have inexorably led to a health service not unlike that of a developing country.
