Anger as transgender female athlete who competed as a man until 2019 smashes two US Women’s swimming records

22-yr-old Lia Thomas broke two US Women’s swimming records last weekend at a swimming contest in Ohio.

Thomas won the 1,650 freestyle in a record time of 15:59.71 beating her closest rival Anna Sofia Kalandaze by 38 seconds. Thomas also won the 500 freestyle leaving the female athletes a massive 14 seconds behind.

Thomas previously competed for the school’s men’s team for three years before joining the women’s team. Her last men’s competition was in November 2019, according to the Daily Mail.

The NCAA who regulate the rules for athletes in America, have changed their rules so that any trans female athlete can take part in women’s events if they have completed a year of testosterone suppression treatment.

According to PJ Media, Thomas’s times would be good — if he was competing as a man. But they wouldn’t win many races at the level of competition he was competing in. But competing as a woman, he absolutely blows the competition away.

The wins have caused anger with Lars Larson calling it out in a tweet saying “If you accept this as the new normal are you ready to tell every girl in your family to forget competing in sports?”
