Mary Coughlan initially sang at the start of last night’s Late Late Show, but what followed was a candid interview about the singer’s personal life.

Coughlan told how she had been abused in her childhood by her uncle and grandfather. She said the abuse happened between 7 and 11 yrs old and that she felt guilty to have let it happen so long.

After this, Mary went into specific details to her initial drinking habits which led to a very heavy alcohol dependency which eventually led to hard drugs.

Coughlan said she eventually managed to get sober after 30 attempts st sobriety. Her children saw the worst of it but stood by their mother through the bad times.

Her then-husband Frank, who ended up partnering with Sinead O’Connor, had an extra material affair on Coughlan which made things even more complicated.

Everything eventually worked out for her and her extended family and now friends. She spoke in a philosophical manner and the audience enjoyed the the insight into the public singer’s private past.
