Pre-pandemic employment levels won’t be restored until at least 2023, according to the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI).
The agency has offered a rather dire vision of the employment market in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, saying that the unemployment rate is likely to remain at 10% or higher by the end of 2021.
Hundreds of thousands of people remain on the Pandemic Unemployment Scheme (PUP), which was recently extended until June 30th.
