Deadbeat TDs: Eleven of our chosen representatives chased for debts incurred in the taxpayer-subsidised Dáil bars

As the populace hears about austerity, financial responsibility, and living within our means, our elected TDs live it large across the Dáil’s two heavily subsidised bars.

Not only that, but 11 of them actually incurred tabs so hefty that warning letters had to be issued to them.

While the names of the boozed-up culprits have not been released, they were told that their credit line would be cut if they didn’t settled their bills in full. Some outstanding monies were carried over from years prior to 2015.

It has emerged that over 14,000 pints were sold in the two Dáil bars during 2015 alone, with the busiest night being Budget night, when a whooping €6,300 was spent across the two bars.

And following close, the second busiest night was December 2, when bills on rent issues and homelessness were debated. TDs forked out just over 5 grand that night.
