Dublin man has been jailed for the rape of his ex-girlfriend

A father who met with his ex-partner to talk about the safety of his kid was convicted and sentenced to 10 and a half years in prison for repeatedly raping and anally abusing her, reports Breaking News.

A Central Criminal Court jury found the 45-year-old Dublin man guilty on six counts of raping and anally raping the lady at her house on occasions between January 2019 and September 2020.

He cannot be identified to preserve the privacy of his victim.

The court heard that he has not shown any regret for the jury’s decisions and does not accept their findings, reports Breaking News.

The man violated his former partner’s child’s mother, which was a breach of trust, according to Ms. Justice Caroline Biggs, who made this announcement on Friday.

She pointed out that by repeatedly begging the man to stop and screaming no, the victim made it quite evident that she did not agree.

Ms. Justice Biggs observed that the offender frequently used demeaning and humiliating language to describe her while raping her.

She mentioned that the lady was forced to shove herself into a bed, a bathroom floor and her hair, among other acts of extreme brutality that went beyond the normal ferocity of rape, reports Breaking News.

She sentenced the man to ten and a half years in prison and mandated that he be monitored by the Probation Service for three years after his release.

The prosecutor, Sean O’Carroll SC, was informed by Sergeant Siobhan Tolan that the man and lady had a romantic involvement in 2016 that culminated in the birth of their baby.

Despite their broken relationship, the couple remained in contact to discuss their child’s care.
