Government allocate €5.5bn to tackle the current homeless crisis

The Government has officially launched its €5.5bn housing and homelessness plan that will reportedly ‘rebuild Ireland’.

The newly published document will appareently provide 47,000 new social housimg units over the next six years along with an annual overall build of 25,000 units per year.

The Government say the new programme will actively target the homelessness crisis and will ensure that there will be major decrease in families using hotels for accomadiation.

The Cabinet also says there will be extra help provided for those with mental health and addiction issues. The new action plan comes as thee country experienced a record high of people becoming homeless in the past year.

The Government say they hope the much needed funding will put an end to the ‘national crisis’.
