Despite losing a High Court case to overturn a stay-away order, Enoch Burke is seen cutting a lonesome figure this morning at a secondary school in County Westmeath, reports The Mirror.
For the second day in a row, he disregarded the rain forecast and made his way to Wilson’s Hospital School in Multyfarnham.
Less than two months have passed since teacher Enoch Burke was freed from Mountjoy Prison by the High Court when he returned to the school gates. The instructor was ordered to be released by Mr. Justice Mark Sanfey; he had been imprisoned since September for refusing to leave Wilson’s Hospital School.
The court declared that he was ordering the teachers’ release after reviewing the circumstances, taking into account the fact that the state exams have now concluded and the school is on vacation, reports The Mirror.
The judge stated that Mr. Burke was not required by the court to confess to his contempt or to follow the requirements of an order that was issued against him the previous year.
Wilson’s Hospital was given a permanent injunction in that ruling by Mr. Justice Alexander Owens, preventing Mr. Burke from attending the school. Mr. Burke’s unwillingness to follow that order resulted in his second jail sentence for contempt in September. The instructor has been incarcerated for more than 400 days in all.
Mr. Burke lost a High Court case this month that sought to revoke the May 2023 injunction prohibiting him from entering Wilson’s Hospital School, reports The Mirror.
