The Irish Government has confirmed that it has agreed to take in some of the migrants stranded in the Mediterranean Sea.

In an announcement made on Friday, Ireland along with six other countries will take in migrants who are currently on the Ocean Viking rescue ship.

Although it is not yet known how many migrants Ireland will take in, it is reported that France will take in 150 migrants.

The agreement now means that all 350 migrants onboard the ship which is currently in the waters between Malta and Linosa, will allowed to enter Malta.

Meanwhile Germany, Luxembourg, Portugal and Romania have agreed to take in migrants.
