Sanmay Ved successfully bought the Google.com domain name for $12 using Google’s new domain sale service. He tried typing in the famous site name which appeared as available to buy, so he clicked the ‘add to cart’ button.
He said: “I was hoping I would get an error at sometime saying transaction did not go through, but I was able to complete the purchase, and my credit card was actually charged.”
Sanmay received email confirmation of his purchase shortly after to say that ownership was officially transferred to him. Ownership was transferred to him but minutes later he received an email from Google saying they had cancelled the order.
Sanmay is a former employee of Google and says that he contacted the company to inform them of the mistake.
