Meet the new Joker of the upcoming film “Suicide Squad”

The Joker

ACTOR Jared Leto (43) has big shoes to fill as he is playing iconic bad guy with a smile the Joker in upcoming movie Suicide Squad alongside Will Smith next year.

In the film a secret government agency recruits imprisoned super villains to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency. The director is former United States Navy submariner David Ayer, who is the man behind such action driven films as ‘Sabotage’, ‘End of Watch’ and ‘Fury.’

An all-star line-up of actors has joined Warner Bros. Pictures’ new action adventure bringing DC Comics’ super villain team to the big screen. The Suicide Squad includes Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbeje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana and Amanda Waller as Viola Davis.

Ben Affleck is also to appear as the new Batman. Fans are hoping for an epic battle between his character and long-time nemesis the Joker. He is also playing the ‘bat man’ in upcoming movie Batman vs. Superman next year.

It is Jared as the Joker that is attracting the most attention, with fans excited to see what tricks he will bring to the part previously played by the late Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson and the late Heath Ledger. The actor stayed in character while making the film and he told Empire magazine that he sent bullets to Will Smith and a rat to Margot Robbie. It did not say if he was joking or deadly serious.

“This was a unique opportunity and I couldn’t imagine doing it another way. It was fun, playing those psychological games,” said Jared.

The announcement about Suicide Squad was made by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, Warner Bros. Pictures back in 2014.

“The Warner Bros. roots are deep on this one. David Ayer returns to the studio where he wrote ‘Training Day’ and brings his incredible ability to craft multidimensional villains to this iconic DC property. We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under Ayer’s amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero.”

It is explained on the DC Comics website that, “Super heroes aren’t the answer to every problem. Sometimes, extreme situations require extreme measures…or extreme individuals. The sort of individuals who call the infamous Belle Reve Prison home—super-villains. Of course, no one will officially admit to any of this. That’s the charm of Task Force X, perhaps better known by its nickname: the Suicide Squad. This team of super-villains, assembled by their director Amanda “The Wall” Waller, undertakes high-risk covert operations and in exchange receive commuted prison sentences. And we do mean high-risk.”  It is added that regardless of abilities and talent, every member of the Squad is expendable.

The film is due out on August 5, 2016 and is sure to be a scream.
