Some patients are finding themselves paying massive money just to have a coronavirus test – whether they have symptoms or not – when they arrive in a number of private hospitals around Ireland to have a procedure or surgery carried out.
Patients are having to fork out from €75 up to €250 to get a covid-19 test performed before they’re allowed continue on to get their other appointment undertaken.
There’s been outrage as private health insurance companies are thus far refusing to pay the extortionate fee.
Patients are saying that it’s a complete and utter money racket because the State has stopped using private hospitals, they can now do what they like.
