Mysteriously unnamed man gets charged with raping woman in her Kerry home while threatening to kill her with a pair of scissors

A mystery surrounds a case in Kerry where a man has been charged with an alleged rape – but no name has been made public.

Two charges have been brought against a young man for allegedly raping a lady in her Kerry house and threatening to murder her while brandishing a big pair of scissors, reports Independent.

The 32-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, showed up for a special Mallow District Court session on Thursday to discuss the alleged attack in the Tralee town centre.

Detective Sergeant Tom Burke informed Judge Colm Roberts that the defendant, after being cautioned, said, “I just want to say I am sorry for the things I am accused of,” in response to the five official charges brought against him at the Tralee Garda Station. I can’t recall. I was abusing narcotics.”

The young male was detained by Gardaí on Thursday and questioned at the Tralee Garda Station, according to the investigator, reports Independent.

According to Inspector Debra Marsh, the State requested a remand in prison to be sent to Tralee District Court the following week.

At the short Mallow District Court session, the defendant remained silent.

He showed up in grey sweatpants and a black sports shirt, reports Independent.

For the duration of the hearing, the defendant sat with his head in his hands.

Defence lawyer Pat Mann informed Judge Roberts that no bail application will be presented to the court, reports Independent.
