A study conducted by the gift card company One4All indicates that the implementation of health and wellness programs is key to keep talents within the retail industry.

The study, which surveyed 1002 adults working full or part time in the Irish retail industry, and was recently published in the specialized publication Shelflife, stated that 91% of respondents believe that maintaining a healthy work force is not a top priority for their boss.

It also indicated that 36% of retail workers have felt stressed regularly because of work in the past year.

76% of surveyed said that they are more likely to stick to a company that cared about their health. 34% said that they’d be less likely to call in sick if the employer cared about their health.

Employers wishing to increase their staff’s loyalty and keep them for long term are encouraged to create wellness programmes. A notable example is the Bike to Work Scheme in which workers can save up to 52% in the price of a bike.
