OPINION: Double standards – I’m sick and tired of entitled Ukrainians demanding and getting practically everything for free in Ireland

Between military-aged men who are meant to be living and fighting in Ukraine, to vast sways of Western Ukraine allegedly being mostly safe, Ireland has 14,000 homeless Irish and they’re taking a backseat to the 100,000 Ukrainians mostly free loaders who are now living here.

There’s no means test for Ukrainians. Talk to any of them – they’re ALL entitled. They ALL are demanding.

Any sports club or gym – ask people working there how many Ukrainians are using their facilities for free with Irish people paying through the nose to sometimes have to wait to use the machines because Ukrainians aren’t finished, even though they’re not even paying.

Regarding Ukrainian-registered cars driving here. They can get an exemption, but they must be insured and they’re meant to pay road tax and NCT etc, but did you ever see gardai pulling them in and checking all these? Are they waved through checkpoints? Are they ever ticketed or clamped?

The longer this nonsense goes on, the more Irish people are getting fed up with having to put up with their demands. They don’t even say thanks for anything they get only “in my country” yarns.

We’ve literally thousands upon thousands of people waiting for health care in this country, yet Ukrainians have been given medical cards, dental care and until last week full social welfare – regardless of whether they’re millionaires or not. New Ukrainians get €38.80 per week, but that be increased if they get accommodation for themselves. And don’t forget they get free college fees, some might pay a subsidy fee. The list truly is endless.

These 100,000 Ukrainians will likely never leave this country – when will these double standards end?
