An air of desperation can be sensed emanating from Fine Gael after Heather Humphreys became the 18th of the party’s 35 sitting TDs to announce she would not contest her seat in the upcoming general election.
As panic truly sets in, the Blue Shirts are turning to former TDs in attempt to capture seats from a floundering Sinn Fein and to this end enter Noel Rock, will attempt to regain the seat he lost in Dublin North-West in the 2020 General Election.
Rock allegedly went on to set up a lobbying company, which he has since allegedly sold to Red Flag Consulting group since his 2020 defeat, he is said to be currently the director of public affairs for said consulting group.
But now, the once locked in seat for Sinn Fein’s Dessie Ellis, now looks vulnerable in the three seat constituency, as his party reaps a whirlwind they sowed when they turned on their traditional, working class base, by defending the government’s migrant plantation agenda and pushing other so-called “woke” policies.
As more Fine Gael TDs to continue to abandon the party, in a vein of rats fleeing a sinking ship, there is speculation that party leader Simon Harris will reach out to other former TDs to make up the shortfall of candidates however.
