Passport warning issued to people wanting to travel over the coming months

It’s that time of year when a lot of individuals in Ireland are getting ready to travel overseas for their Easter vacation or are considering making travel plans for the summer, reports The Mirror.

However, it’s crucial to verify your passport before you buy sun protection and prepare your baggage.

Michael Martin sent out a serious alert today to anybody planning a trip overseas in the upcoming months.

Irish nationals were urged to verify the expiration date on their passports by the Tanaiste and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, reports The Mirror.

It might take some time to obtain a new passport, so make sure you have plenty of time before your trip. Ten working days is the current turnaround time for a “simple adult renewal,” according to Mr. Martin.

The amount of time remaining on your passport may vary depending on where you’re travelling. For example, it’s advised to leave at least three months after your return date if you’re going from Ireland to Spain.

Mr Martin said: “I would encourage anyone who is considering travel over the Easter break or this summer to check that their passport is in date, and to use Passport Online if they need to renew their passport or apply for the first time. Passport Online is the fastest and most convenient way to apply for your passport,” reports The Mirror.
