Remember the good old days where a boy was a boy and girl was a girl? Well that’s a distant memory in the State of Tasmania in Australia.
Know-it-all law makers passed legislation that will see birth certificates having an option in regards to gender.
State officials have also made it legal for a man to declare himself a woman and a woman to declare herself a man without having to undergo surgery to declare themselves the opposite sex.
Anyone over the age of 16 can now merely change their gender on their birth cert. So, effectively a 16-yr-old boy can declare himself a 16-yr-old girl and it will now state on his birth cert for a fact that he is actually a girl.
The changes have been met with stern criticism from the state’s parliament with Prime Minister Scott Morrison criticising the plan by calling it “ridiculous”.
It is understood the law changes were heavily backed by opposition parties who argued that an official gender designation doesn’t exactly match a specific person’s beliefs in regards to their gender.
