A homeless couple had a very lucky escape after a group of thugs set their tent on fire in Dublin’s Pheonix Park.
According to The Irish Mirror newspaper, the couple somehow managed to escape unharmed on Sunday night.
Speaking to The Irish Mirror, Feed Our Homeless charity founder Tony Walsh said the attack one of many that has occurred across the city in recent weeks.
Mr Walsh who has condemned the incident told the paper that the attack is thought to have been carried out by a group of six and although the couple escaped unharmed, one of the victims had to drag their partner out of the burning tent.
The homeless campaigner also revealed that in separate incidents which occurred on Tuesday night a group of thugs burnt down two unoccupied tents belonging to homeless people in Wolfe Tone Park.
Meanwhile a homeless man was also sprayed with a fire extinguisher the group were carrying with them.
