Sometimes there acts of human kindness that truly amaze us and reminds us that the world is not such a bad place, and this amazing story of how a stranger paid a parking fine for a mother of a sick boy in hospital is truly remarkable.

The mother of the sick boy Mariri Holden has since gone on to thank the kind hearted stranger for paying her fine which she received when she had an unexpected overnight stay at Edinburgh’s Sick Kids hospital. The caring mum has told her story of how she was scandalously given two tickets for failure to pay her parking fees, but was overwhelmed when she discovered a £20 and £5 note, along with a message saying: “Pay it then forget it happened.”

However the amazing story has since took another twist when a touched Holden, decided to pay it forward by using the generous donation to set up a fundraiser for the hospital that treated her son Oscar instead. Mairi’s equally generous decision has since paid off as the her JustGiving appeal has already claimed a whopping £1,500 in donations from the public and is continuing to grow.

Since the great acts of kindness a delighted and thankful Mairi wrote a brief message on her fundraising page, saying: “A very kind stranger put £25 under my parking ticket after I parked on a single yellow line outside the Sick Kids Hospital Edinburgh. “I had to get Oscar in as soon as I could, and ended up having an overnight stay. I am starting by doubling the money I received and putting it back into the hospital. “Imagine when the anonymous stranger finds out just what has happened as a result of doing such a lovely thing. I think they may have been an older lady or gentleman judging by the hand writing.”

A delighted Mairi also posted a picture of the cash and note on her Facebook page on Thursday and it has gone on to be shared more than 13,500 times on social media.

Meanwhile a grateful Mairi is also keen to track down the generous stranger, saying: “I Would love to find out who did this! I’m still in a lovely feeling of shock!! “Please share – maybe I’ll be able to get in touch with this beautiful person! I’m still overwhelmed at the kindness of it. I’ll never forget it, and if anyone has any idea of who it could have been, or recognises the writing or note paper, please let me know, I’d love to be able to thank them!”

Ms Holden also paid tribute to staff at the hospital, by saying “The staff are amazing and work around the clock to save lives and help others. I am truly grateful for the fabulous service we have in the NHS.”

What a story these kind souls are truly amazing people.
