It looks increasingly likely that the planned HSE support staff stride of some 10,000 workers is going ahead tomorrow after talks at the Workplace Relations Commission ended without agreement.
The SIPTU Health Division Organiser Paul Bell acknowledged that tomorrow’s strike would have a dramatic impact on hospital services and patients, and described the dramatic situation as “most serious”, according to RTE.
Bell said that contingency plans are being formed by local committees who are preparing for a major national strike.
However the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar is understood to believe that some sort of resolution could be found if the dispute was referred to the Labour Court, something that’s always a last ditch attempt.
