Varadkar says that Ireland will finally see the end of the pandemic next year

The Tanaiste Leo Varadkar claims that Ireland will finally see an end to the pandemic once and for all over the next 12 months.

Interviewed on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, Varadkar said that now there’s a vaccine, there’s hope for the people on the island of Ireland and the United Kingdom after both islands began to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.

He said the combination of vaccines, massive testing and in-depth knowledge about Covid-19 will help wipe out the virus over the next year.

The Tánaiste said the government had pre-sales contracts to buy eight million doses of the vaccine for Ireland and that the task force would come up with an action plan with an information campaign on Friday.

Varadkar said the best way to get people vaccinated is to encourage them and answer their questions, not by raising their eyebrows or condescendingly directing them.

He said that there definitely was elements of an anti-Vax campaign, but that people should stick to the facts.

Varadkar claimed that vaccines are safe and effective and have eliminated polio and smallpox in Ireland and reduced a number of other diseases.
