Irish boxer TJ Doheny has become the new IBF World Super Bantamweight champion after winning his bout with Japanese pugilist Ryosuke Iwasa, RTE has reported.
The Portlaoise native was declared the victor by unanimous decision, defeating the raining champion Ryosuke after a hard-fought battle that went the 12 full rounds.
At first Ryosuke looked dominant opening the pointing with a with a straight right in the first round but “The Power” Doheny quickly fought back despite suffering a cut under his right eye to rapturous roars and applause from the 2000 strong crowd at the Tokyo arena, The 42 reported.
