In one of the most bizarre stories ever, a motorist who is a regular user of one of the country’s biggest motorways, the M50, has amazingly clocked up a bill of  €155,000 in unpaid toll charges.

According to eflow, the company that handles the charges, it is understood that the unnamed driver had used the motorway over a 1,000 times last year alone. eflow also say that the driver has not yet settled his bill.

The news comes after the company released its figures for the year ending 2014, figures show that the company raked in a whopping €100m in toll charges last year from 43 million motorists who use the motorway. Although the company say that the figure would be significantly higher only for the fact that hundreds of motorists refuse to pay the toll every year,  which in turn costs the state €5m.

However, the company did say that the majority of non-payments come from motorists who are from other countries, who don’t realise that there is a charge.
