The vice presidency position at the Sinn Féin party is all but confirmed this morning after it was revealed that there is only one nomination for the position.
It is understood that Michelle O’Neill, will succeed Mary Lou McDonald as the parties vice president this evening after it was revealed over the weekend that Ms O’Neill currently has no challengers.
Although party representatives have until this evening to submit their nomination, it is expected that Ms O’Neill will officially take the role on February 10th.
The news will come as welcome boost to the new party leader Mary Lou McDonald after she officially gave Ms O’Neill her support last week.
