A nation says THANK YOU! Millions of people in Ireland and the UK stopped to clap on health workers during covid-19 outbreak

It’s been an incredibly difficult time for health care workers around the world, and at 8pm on Thursday, Ireland and the UK said thank you.

People stopped in their houses, places of work (where they were open) and the Dail to clap all the doctors, nurses, paramedics, carers and health care front line workers around the country.

The one-minute-long clap was broadcast on RTE television and showed people clapping, whistling and beeping their car horn driving by set-up pieces.

The so-called ‘Clap For Carers’ campaign, which was started online, was started because organisers say ‘during these unprecedented times they need to know we are grateful’.

In Ireland, RTE will show TDs clapping in the Dail, while in London, the BBC will show the Wembley Arch, the Principality Stadium, and the Royal Albert Hall.

From all of us at The Liberal, thank you to all front line workers and carers in hospitals.
