The Narco-terrorist ravaged nation of Mexico has slipped closer to full failed state status after the country’s military and police have abandoned Culiacán, the state capital of Sinaloa, after hundreds of cartel gunman attacked a convoy ferrying the son of imprisoned drug lord Joaquin El Chapo Guzman.

Ovidio Guzman was briefly arrested by federal police after he fired on a patrol from one of his safe houses. Following this the cartel ordered hundreds of gunmen armed with assault rifles, mounted heavy machine guns, armoured vehicles and rocket launchers to attack the security forces.

After being overwhelmed the security forces released Guzman and fled cartel infested parts of the city, which is one of the largest in Northern Mexico, to “protect life” and prevent full scale “war” in the city.

In a statement Security Minister Alfonso Durazo said the police released the wanted drug lord after “with a force greater than that of the patrol”.

Joaquin El Chapo Guzman was sentenced to life in prison in the U.S in February for trafficking tons of illegal drugs across the border, organizing a murder conspiracy and several other charges.

Ovidio Guzman’s father, best known as El Chapo, was jailed for life, plus 30 years in the US, for his role in running a murderous multi-billion-dollar drug trafficking cartel.

He was extradited to the U.S after he escaped prison in Mexico by digging a tunnel from his cell in feat made possible due to the corruption of the Mexican authorities, something absolutely rampant in the country.
