Not So Friendly: Parents warned after new ‘child friendly’ search engine Kiddle shows some inappropriate search results

Parents are being advised to monitor their children’s activities on a new search engine which is supposedly meant to be the ‘child friendly’ version of Google.

The new search engine called Kiddle.co has received a mixed response from technology experts and parents alike worldwide after a number of inappropriate search results have appeared on its service. The new search engine which apparently cuts out all adult related content has received great praise from parents across the pond for its clever filtering system which stops your child from viewing websites they shouldn’t, although it has come under tough scrutiny here after Google claimed they are not behind the new child friendly search engine.

The world’s biggest technology company say they have no association with the new search engine and its developed by a separate company using their search results. The supposedly child friendly web browser however has received some positive response after its somewhat limited filtering system stops your child viewing adult related content. The new search engine will apparently stop your child from viewing adult content when they type in certain keywords such as ‘sex’ ‘porn’ ‘boobs’ or ‘penis’ in its searchbar, the new company say if your child types in any of the above words or any word that is considered adult in nature they will automatically be told to try again until they search for something more appropriate.

However the new search engine is not considered full proof after a number of parents in UK complained about certain types of inappropriate content still appearing in its search results. The search engine’s inability to filter out other potentially harmful content has caused a backlash on Twitter with many parents warning other parents not to consider this as a safe option for their children to use whilst browsing online.
