Ireland have been offered the chance of sorts to the rejoin the UK as the ongoing debate surrounding the border issue and Brexit rumbles on.
In the latest attempt by a concerned member of the British public to resolve the issue, we the Republic of Ireland have been offered the chance to rejoin the United Kingdom if we wish to do so however unlikely that may be.
The petition which has gathered just over 2,000 signatures seemingly has a plan that could put an to the Brexit conundrum once and for all as well make both countries stronger.
Although the petition which has gotten a response you would pretty much expect from the Irish public, it seems that it is being considered as viable option for some given that it is listed on the British Parliament website.
According to the petition which reads as follows: “The RoI left our Union in 1922 after 121 years of being part of the family. We should now ask them to reconsider their position within both the UK & EU as a way of solving the current impasse over the Irish border issue that is holding up the Withdrawal Agreement. Britain & Ireland stronger together.”
However there is no need to panic (not that we are going to) the petition apparently is some way off of becoming a viable option as it needs over 100,000 signatures for it to be debated in the British Parliament.
