The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said if Fine Gael were to be elected back into power their main focus would be aimed at introducing a working-family payment to which would promote people to work rather than claim Welfare.
Mr Kenny claimed the new scheme would be initially targeted to those classed as low-income families, with the payment supplementing income of the household, which in turn would incentivise work.
Mr Kenny made his comments whilst speaking at the Dublin Chamber of Commerce Dinner last night, the Taoiseach said the proposed plan would remove many of the current welfare traps. Mr Kenny also said he believes the scheme would make work pay in the long run.
